FINI BROADBERY

Fini Broadbery is generally known as a jazz pianist, but what fewer people know is that he began his musical career as a singer in the Copenhagen Royal Chapel Choir. He fuses these two forms of expression in this concert, where he performs as both pianist and vocalist. The combination of Fini’s soft, pure vocals and his at times raw and uncompromising piano style makes the music feel vibrant and almost effortlessly playful.

Joining Fini in the ensemble are some fantastic young musicians who—despite their age—have already made their mark on the Danish jazz scene. This formidable group interprets both well-known and lesser-known songs from the American songbook.

The musicians’ deep love for jazz tradition and history shines through clearly when they play, while the music itself is neither solemn nor nostalgic. The trio insists on a serious expression, free of clichés and offering a personal take on these otherwise well-known songs.

JOHANNA LINNEA JAKOBSSON
The Danish/Swedish artist Johanna Linnea Jakobsson is a saxophonist, singer, and composer, and is currently in the spotlight with her new album “Don’t Overthink It,” released on 31 October 2025. The album has received widespread praise from critics. Ivan Rod writes in GAFFA that “...her vocal control and sense of songwriting and composition make her a unique phenomenon in Danish/Swedish music,” awarding the album 5 out of 6 stars. The single “Time” also received a distinguished nomination at the Danish Music Awards Jazz 2025 in the category “Single of the Year.”

The concert will of course feature material from the new album, as well as from the equally acclaimed debut album “Alone Together” from 2022. The repertoire will likely also include classics from various genres, which Johanna often interprets with her band.

“The musicality is impeccable, but what impresses me most is the consistently delicate, laid-back sound and the ability to create music that feels both contemporary and like a loving nod to jazz tradition.” – Dan Backman, Orkesterjournalen(SE)
