NORDHUS IS THE CULTURAL CENTRE IN NORDHAVN FOR COMMUNITY, FOOD AND CULTURAL EXPERIENCES.

In the heart of Nordhavn, you’ll find NORDHUS, a cultural centre where gastronomy, community and experiences come together under one roof. We share meals, host concerts, workshops and events for locals, visitors and businesses alike.

THE HOUSE

nordhus i nordhavn

In the heart of the Århusgade district in Nordhavn, you’ll find NORDHUS – a cultural centre in Copenhagen that is both an architectural gem and a hub for community and creativity.

NORDHUS is located in Den Røde By and is characterised by its distinctive south-facing gable, where every single brick has been carefully selected and thoughtfully placed. The building’s architecture combines a modern expression with the area’s classic materials, giving the house a timeless and inviting character.

At the heart of NORDHUS is the large hall, with almost six metres of ceiling height. Its generous proportions create a unique atmosphere for everything from concerts and talks to communal dinners, corporate events and cultural experiences. At the same time, the warm, sustainable materials make NORDHUS a welcoming place to be – whether you come alone, with family, colleagues, friends or your mum group. The house is designed for both large communities and informal everyday gatherings.

OUR PARTNERS

samarbejder i nordhavn

Through strong partnerships, NORDHUS helps foster culture, community and sustainable urban development. Here, you can meet some of the companies and organisations we work with.

Cultigen

NORDHUS is a member of Cultigen, a development project focused on creating more sustainable tourism in Copenhagen, bringing the city’s cultural experiences to more non-central neighbourhoods and developing new local destinations for visitors, including in Nordhavn.

The project brings together cultural institutions such as NORDHUS, citizens and local stakeholders. Cultigen is led by the City of Copenhagen and co-funded by the European Urban Initiative.

Kulturdistriktet

Kulturdistriktet is a modern, local community organisation working to foster culture and community in Nordhavn and Østerbro. The small cultural association highlights local experiences and organises annual traditions such as Midsummer’s Eve in Nordhavn, Fastelavn, Halloween and the Århusgade district street festival. Kulturdistriktet also co-organises festivals, debates and networking events, including here at NORDHUS.

Kulturdistriktet is part of a global movement of cultural districts working to create a high concentration of arts and culture in local neighbourhoods.

Kulturhusene i Danmark

A nationwide network for cultural centres across Denmark. The country’s many cultural centres provide spaces for culture and contribute to local communities, but they each play different roles in their communities and are constantly evolving. That’s why we are stronger when we work together. Read more about Kulturhusene i Danmark here.

SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT AND INCLUSIVE COMMUNITIES

The Nordhus Foundation is a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting and promoting initiatives that help young people navigate the transition to adulthood through education, community engagement, and life experiences.

Born from a commitment to fostering sustainable development and inclusive communities, the Nordhus Foundation seeks to empower future generations to take action.

We believe that we are stronger together. That it is possible to create a sustainable development where we live in balance with the planet and with each other. We aim to inspire new generations with optimism and a belief in the future. We believe in the power of example and with NORDHUS, we want to lead the way and show an example of a new and innovative model for sustainable development.
