Mathias Heise was only eight years old when he happened to discover the harmonica and instantly fell in love with the instrument. Today, he is nothing less than a world champion in chromatic harmonica playing—a title he won at the World Harmonica Festival at just 20 years old. Since then, both Danish and international awards have poured in, including New Jazz Star of the Year (2015) and the Crown Prince Couple’s Stardust Award (2016).
Mathias is also a pianist and composer and has, among other things, collaborated with the DR Big Band, with whom he released the album The Beast (2018) – to great critical acclaim: “He’s almost too good to be true,” wrote Politiken. He has also released three albums with his band Mathias Heise Quadrillion, one album with the Mathias Heise Quintet, and another with the classical accordion virtuoso Bjarke Mogensen.
Pelle von Bülow is one of Denmark’s finest and most sought-after jazz guitarists. In 2022, he was awarded the Erik Moseholm Prize, and in 2020, the Tivoli Jazz Prize for his great artistic integrity and tonal presence. As an accompanist, he is world-class and, as one of the few, moves effortlessly between jazz, Latin, blues, funk, R&B, and pop. In addition to his work within the jazz scene, he is also a permanent member of Erran DD’s band, Drori Hansen Furniture.
His ability to create a unique sound and tone, as well as his understanding of music, makes him a leading figure in Danish jazz.
The repertoire consists of a mix of the finest jazz standards, jazzified pop classics, and original compositions.
